But even so, it takes great courage for Karl to find out whether Lea likes him too. Karl’s older brother Tom advises him to do something together with Lea. Karl invites the girl to his improvised bathroom laboratory. Photographing and developing pictures has been Karl’s favourite pastime for years. Lea is impressed by Karl’s “light magic” in the laboratory. But Karl still doesn’t know whether she returns his feelings. Time is running out. The sixth grade is almost over. A film about six women in a patriarchal society, six different life stories, one mutual decision: giving up femininity and living as men.
They have done this to circumvent patriarchal structures, to avoid misogynistic attacks, to support the family economically, to avoid compelled marriage and to be free. Our characters communicate with us intimately as they talk about their lives and bring us closely into their personal journey. They speak about freedom and oppression, about how their breaking of gender barriers was choosing not how to live, but to live.

German-Turkish woman Zeynep is accused of intentionally causing an accident. She flees to her parents in the Turkish province. In her cosmos full of contradictions, she turns her parents deadlocked marriage and an entire society upside down.
"[The] film impresses with its minimalist and precise aesthetics, which emphasize the tension, anger and despair of the characters. Furthermore, the great ensemble is convincing, espacially Rasim Jafarov as Hasan and Merve Aksoy as Zeynep."
Film Rezensionen, Rouven Linnarz

An inherited family treasure trove of photos and film footage show the director's grandfather in southern Germany in the 1940s. In one clip, the grandfather is briefly seen at a funfair wearing a swastika on his jacket. How is our perception of a loved one changed through a symbol that stands for murder by the millions? How can photos and film footage, memories and archival material, be pieced together to form a coherent picture? A struggle for memory - and a search whose persistence ultimately ruffles some feathers in the family.

IM STILLEN LAUT / A QUIET RESISTANCE
2019 / cinema documentary, 73:00 / D: Therese Koppe / Edition Salzgeber
postion: editor, VFX Artist, trailer editor
“The main question is: Why do I want to be free? What needs to be different?” Erika and Christine are a couple for more than 40 years. Today, at the age of 81, they look back on living through a turbulent time in history. A QUIET RESISTANCE is a film about love and aging, autonomy, art and collectivity in freely created art spaces within the GDR. The film does not hang onto questions of the past, but rather looks with Erika and Christine into the future: What role can art play in politically demanding times? How can oneself stay true to themselves, their art and their ideals? What meaning can art create, for the whole and each individual?

MY TWO POLISH LOVES
2017 / cinema documentary, 52:00 / D: Tali Tiller / position: editor, color grader, title designer, trailer editor
Tali embarks on an intimate journey to Lodz, Poland, to retrace her personal roots and collective history. At the centre are her two Polish loves: her expatriate lover Magda, who begins filming the trip, and her late grandmother Silvia, a Holocaust survivor whose voice and memories accompany the couple on their quest. The documentary explores how memories of the Holocaust and war are lived, narrated and passed down by women from generation to generation. It also asks: Will future generations be interested in the history of the Holocaust if there are no longer any direct witnesses? How important is physical memory? And what is the role of the third generation?

One building. One day. 40 people swapping rooms. “Kinzig 9”, is the collective occupied housing project in former East Berlin. It has many different rooms: some big, some small, some bright, some dark. To be fair, the inhabitants swap apartments and they do it all in one day. Unfortunately, the logistics do not go as smoothly as planned and the madness of the rotation puts their harmonious community aspirations to the test.
